My Project

I am a first year Special Education Resource Teacher. I am excited to be working with around 30 students with different disabilities that make it challenging for them to access learning in a general education setting. Many come from less than ideal backgrounds in which they feel out of control often. My goal is to help give these students power over and important aspect in their life, their learning. I would greatly appreciate your help in making this happen for them and inspiring these children to make the most of their educational opportunities.

One thing that has been shown to help students to learn, especially those with challenging behaviors, is flexible seating.

Allowing students this simple choice in what seat they will use gives them power over something small first and prevents power seeking during learning time. This helps the student to focus, their peers to have an ideal learning environment, and the teacher to be able to optimally educate them. Thank you for your consideration, any donations toward my project will greatly benefit the students that I will be working with this year.
