Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 7th Grade ELA special educator, and I am also an advisor. My advisory group of students are an amazing group of students. I have 10 students in my advisory, 5 boys and 5 girls. They are an engaging group with unique personalities and are respectful of each other. My students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions and insight. This is a crazy year due to the pandemic, and my advisory is in a blended model. So when they do come to school physically, they are engaged and ready to learn. They are excited for new challenges and new discoveries. I want to create an advisory where the students feel safe, welcomed, and appreciated for who they are and that is a place they can feel safe to share.

My Project

These books will be utilized at home and in school in a blended model to help the students in my advisory to gain access to books and take part in a book club and have healthy, thoughtful discussions among their classmates.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level and read the same books as their classmates.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
