My Project

As an English teacher, I believe that the books we choose to keep on our shelves matter. It is my goal to uplift authors from marginalized communities, and to decolonize the canon of what is held in high regard.

Students would massively benefit from an extended collection of reading materials in the classroom- books that students can actually see themselves in.

Currently, our collection of books doesn't feature much diversity in terms of authorship. I would like to change that, and give students an opportunity to explore literature they might not be familiar with. The snacks are for students who might be hungry, and the journals will be used in the future to enhance their writing skills!
