My Project

MHBA is a Title I public middle school in Brooklyn, NY. We are two speech-language pathologists who service students ranging from 6th to 8th grade. Many come from impoverished families and low economic households. We want to foster a rich learning environment that will motivate students to learn while targeting their individualized goals. We believe in the importance of pairing literacy-based instruction with engaging and relevant articles to develop speech and language skills. We want to help transition students to the least restrictive environment and help develop their skills to generalize outside of speech. Speech therapy activities address a variety of service delivery areas within our scope of practice including but not limited to expressive and receptive language, pragmatic language, social skills, fluency, articulation, and literacy. Unfortunately, our school does not have the funds to provide all the resources that our students need so we are requesting subscriptions to “Time for Kids” to provide our students with literature that will inspire and equip them with the skills they need in the classroom and in the real world. We also utilize many educational resources on teachers pay teachers. We are also requesting disinfecting/cleaning supplies which will come in handy during flu season and during covid times to keep our students healthy and safe from everyday germs that may appear in a school building.
