My Students

My students enter the classroom and start working immediately because they are used to my routines, and they work rigorously throughout the entire class period. At the end of the year, I want my students to not only pass the Regents, but have a new found passion for science.

My students all have individualized education programs since I am a special education teacher.

My school is a performing arts school, so we implement arts and entertainment into the classroom. My students have both learning disabilities and emotional disabilities, and my school has a full special education team to support these students.

My Project

This is my second year as a teacher, and I have learned a lot from my first year. Last year, I had students carry their papers with them every day in a folder, and several students were constantly losing the work that was given. This year, the binders I ordered will help students keep their work in the classroom at all times to ensure that they have the information to study. I also have my own classroom, so they will use the materials and index cards to create a word wall. Students will also use the wipe boards during review in order to help them work collaboratively to study. The work books will also be used to help students prepare for the Regent exams that they will take in either the winter or the summer. All of these materials will help me enhance my classrooms and help students become successful in my science classes.

Many of my students do not have the money to purchase all of these supplies themselves.

Also, resources are not always readily available at my school due to budgeting, so my students have to use older materials, if any at all, when learning. And this also puts my teaching down as well because without the proper materials it is harder to motivate my students. My students will respect and be grateful for receiving these materials, and it will push them to succeed.
