Mozart and Beethoven would approve...if only they knew what we know. Classical music has been shown to stimulate logical, orderly and critical thinking skills in children. It has also been shown to relax hyperactive and attention deficit disorder children which allows them to focus and function better in mathematical endeavors. I teach 5th and 6th grade math in an inner city school. With your help, I would like to provide all four homerooms with a CD player and set of children's classical CDs. The music would be playing softly each morning as the students enter the room. It would continue playing all day as a gentle backdrop to their regular studies. Many of our students come from fractured homes. School is oftentimes the most structured and safe environment they have. This music will not only help them to achieve better math skills and test results, but also provide a calming setting for sometimes chaotic lives. We appreciate your help.
