A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Our co-teach classroom is full of twenty-six energetic 4th graders. They are hardworking and ready for 21st century learning. The problem is... we are stuck in a classroom environment that hasn't changed since I was in the 4th grade! Our classroom community is all about collaboration. Students work best when they work alongside their peers in a comfortable learning environment.
Research shows that students are able to focus and do their best work when they are comfortable.
Across the nation, classrooms are changing the way student workspaces look, for the better! By creating a flexible learning environment, I will be able to teach my students how to be mindful of where they learn best.
Research has shown the benefits of flexible seating and how student choice and comfort increases engagement and participation. Therefore, a student-centered classroom redesign is the focus of this project.
My Project
I am requesting 6 Learniture stools for my students to use around the classroom. These ergonomic stools are designed with a convex base, so students can move around - transforming stationary sitting into an activity. The backless design encourages proper posture while strengthening core muscles. This movement provides both physical and mental benefits to the students. There is an easy-to-use lift that adjusts the seat height from 18 to 28 inches so they can be used at standard desks, stand up tables and other areas of the room.
Students will be able to move while sitting, which will help to keep them actively engaged in their work.
Students can sway and wiggle while sitting in these stools and not disrupt the other students. This movement can help students with attention problems to work and learn for longer periods of time in an environment that is better suited to meet their needs.
Please consider helping our students get the most out of their education by providing them with chairs that will help them be more active learners!
