My Students

I have a classroom full of very energetic first graders that love to learn. We explore, investigate, research and write all day. It is a busy, loud and sometimes messy class full of love and laughter as we learn.

My students come from all over the world.

They have different cultures, religions, languages and prior school experiences. What they have in common is being kind and supportive to each other as we learn. As you can imagine they are active and full of energy!

My Project

Research shows movement facilitates the brain's readiness and ability to learn and retain information ~ so why not move and make the most of our learning day? Incorporating movement throughout the day will help us be less fidgety and more focused on learning. We will be on-task and have less challenges during our six hour day. The reason for this is we will have more oxygen going to our brain and our central nervous system changes so we can focus and complete our tasks.

Teachers have it easier than students when it comes to moving throughout the day.

I am able to walk around, sit on the floor or join a child at their table. My little ones are expected to stay in their spots for long periods of time on hard plastic chairs. If I want my their best work, I need to give them the best learning environment.
