My students are bilingual English learners who are working on developing language skills and celebrating their multicultural background in an internationally-minded classroom.

We have partnered with classrooms in Ghana, Brazil, and Israel to learn about our world. We also want to use digital technology to create photo essays that we will post on our website. The photo essays will introduce our students to students around the world. With the assistance of our art teacher will explore elements of design to make the videos visually interesting. We will work as a group developing writing skills to better express ourselves in the written form.

There are 24 students in our classroom. We will take turns using 7 still-digital cameras to create autobiographical photo essays.

This beginning-of-the-year project will have an enormous impact in our students as it will allow them to use an extremely personal project to develop language and design skills. More importantly, Moving Me: An Autobiographical Photo Essay will allow students to both connect to students around the world and to provide them with unique learning experiences.
