Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a classroom of adorable 4-year-olds eager and curious about the world around them. Many of them are English language learners. Many of my students come from families where only one parent works. They are not given the opportunity to have many outside experiences, based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. Please help me develop a love and appreciation for music by providing my students with different types of music and props to develop this love for music in my young students.

My Project

If you donate to my project, you will help my students in many important ways. The rhythm sticks and rhythm sticks CD will be used to teach skills such as listening to best and rhythm and copying it, following directions, and will give them an appreciation and an exposure to different instruments and the sound they make. Music helps increase participation in a group. It helps develop social skills and helps children express emotions. Music and Movement promotes awareness of movement and body positions. It helps foster creativity and imagination. Children also learn  new words and concepts through music. Movement helps develop large motor skills,improves balance, coordination, and rhythm. Young children enjoy moving around when they hear music. Children take pleasure in physical activities that contribute to their healthy development. Physical activities are vital to retain healthy bodies, and inactivity is one cause of obesity in young children. Building gross motor skills is a component of the Pre-K program, and is essential for future success.
