This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Movie nights can be essential in building school community and spirit for a multitude of reasons. Watching a movie at a school in a relaxed, informal setting allows students and staff to bond over shared experiences. It provides an opportunity for everyone to unwind and connect outside the classroom. Selecting movies that resonate with the interests of the school community can also create a sense of shared culture and can be an excellent way to promote cultural awareness and understanding.

Schools can use this platform to showcase films from different cultures and backgrounds, encouraging students to explore and appreciate diversity.

School clubs and organizations can also use this for fundraising events for school clubs, activities, or charitable causes. This provides an opportunity for the community to come together in support of a common goal. Movie choices can be used to promote school values and messages. For example, a movie with a positive message about teamwork, resilience, or kindness can reinforce the school's values. Repeating movie nights over the years can create a school tradition that students look forward to, fostering a sense of continuity and connection with the school. Many of our students cannot afford to attend a movie theater on their own, so this is a great way to recreate that experience for them for free.

All teachers can this equipment (projector, inflatable screen, and Bluetooth speakers) to show movies that pertain to their classes (i.e., war movies in history, movie-adapted books in ELA, foreign movies for language classes, etc). This provides a more comfortable and unique experience for students, instead of simply watching movies at their desks in class.
