My Students

Most of my students come from a rural low-income community and all qualify for Special Education assistance through an Individual Education Plan.

All students need to have their social-emotional and sensory processing needs met to be in the right state of mood to learn.

My goal is to have items in my classroom that give the students what they need to be successful.

My Project

Students today need a lot of sensory time and movement to keep them engaged in learning. Sometimes, students might need a fidget while others need to move their legs and feet. My project is helping students get the motion their need to stimulate their brains to focus on academics. Pedal exercisers are a great sensory diet for Autistic students. Also, research says that students can't learn when they are upset or frustrated. Just like adults, many students try to manger their emotions by exercise. The pedal exerciser is a great item while at school because they can use it to exercise (honestly, help regulate their emotions) and the equipment is small enough to have in the classroom.

By founding this project, the pedal exercisers could help a wide range of my students by having their needs met by movement and regulating their emotions.

My classroom and personal goals are to have a variety of items to help all my students have what they need to learn and be successful. My students are hard workers trying to improve their academics skills but may struggle because of previous (or current) trauma in their lives or not getting what they need.
