My Students

My students are hard-working and inspired to make their ambitions come true. Like many school districts, we lack funds to be able to provide students with the materials they need to be successful in the 21st century. Third graders get excited when they see their success with different materials, resources and manipulatives. To see their faces light up as they are figuring out new concepts and life is exciting.

Teachers at my school are motivated by the success of all students both academically and in preparing them for life.

Our school currently serves K-5 students with rigorous academics. I am a part of a teacher culture that is driven to inspire the minds of young people.

These materials will allow my students to meet their fullest potential.

My Project

My students will be able to sit on the wobble chairs during small group instruction and a kidney table. While teachers try to give students as much movement as possible during the day, the reality is they are required to sit much of it. These chairs will provide students the movement they need to stay focused to perform their best and allow more space from other students while sitting at a small table with many kids.

So much has changed about education, it's time for student's seating arrangements to catch up with the changes.

Reynolds (Science of fitness, 2015) says that “Globally speaking, kids sit on average 8.5 hours. Movement and activity really drops after age 8. That’s of course, when school, homework and tech devices take over kids’ lives.” The wobble chairs will allow students to be able to wiggle around as they learn. This will improve their retention of material learned, help them stay focused and enjoy learning.
