Help me give my students an indoor climbing toy and a crash pad for our Autistic and ADHD population to learn to independently self-regulate their sensory systems so that they can focus on learning.

My Project

The items being requested will make a significant difference for neurodiverse students including students with autism or ADHD and those who have other learning differences or social/emotional difficulties.

Neurodiverse students often have difficulty regulating their sensory systems, leading to difficulties learning and processing the world around them.

An indoor climbing structure within the classroom allows students to self-regulate throughout the day by climbing, sliding, swinging, and jumping. Students can land safely on the crash pad, enabling them to give their bodies the sensory input they are seeking.

Once regulated, their mind and bodies will be able to listen to and process academic information being taught. The students I teach all fall into the category of neurodiverse. They are wired differently from neurotypical students and often have sensory differences which get in the way of their learning. My students are amazing individuals who can learn once their sensory systems are regulated.

My goal is to give my students the opportunity to gain independence in learning to seek the activities that help them regulate their sensory and emotional systems in order to learn to their potential. I am passionate about my job and about helping children thrive!
