My Students

Compassionate,kind, and energetic are only a few of the many attributes the boys and girls in my class have. I love to hear them encourage and be positive to one another. Our school serves students in pre-k through 12th grade. It provides a challenging curriculum with many extracurricular activities. Since this school is located near a military base, there are families that come from different cultures. My classroom is mixed with students who are African American, Native American, and Hispanic. I love to incorporate movement and learning in my class. Learning through play is essential at this age.

I would like to include Science,Technology,Engineering, and Math opened ended projects into my classroom. I want my students to think about their thinking and ask themselves questions and others within their group. Having STEM sets will provide many opportunities for my students to incorporate communication, working as a team, and creative thinking.

My Project

I love coming up with and finding new ways to make learning fun and engaging. The bean bag toss and sight word steps will help children learn through movement and action while developing literacy skills, hand eye coordination, and staying focused. I can make up several games with the bean bag toss and change the activity based on the skill we are learning that week. All children learn differently and with adding movement into the mix it will make learning fun. The STEM activities will get my students to use critical thinking and have to be inventive. They will have to think outside the box! The soft pillow seats will be used for my writing center. I want to offer a comfortable place for them to be creative with their writing.
