My school has closed and I have been moved to a classroom unit. There is absolutely nothing for the children to play with on the asphalt surrounding the portable classroom. I like working in portable classrooms, but it is unfair to the children not to have any equipment for their recess time.
I am still working in a district that is in financial crisis because of all the GM plants and suppliers closing, and my children are very needy and falling behind in their academics.
Education is not a top priority for their families. The need for food and shelter is a big concern in all families in this district. Sometimes, school is a safe haven where they are provided breakfast, lunch and weekend food book bags. The children are extremely grateful for anything they receive and are well behaved and take care of school materials. They deserve the best we can provide.
I have requested enough physical education equipment for both unit classrooms. Included are 10 assorted balls, jump ropes, cones, hula hoops and other assorted physical education items. Children need to have the opportunity to exercise and release some of their energy every day. Since the school is a ways from the two units, they will be forced to have no suitable activities beside the games I conduct. It is well known that children are overweight at a younger age now, and these valuable items will encourage a better life style.
I am team teaching second graders and the supply of much needed physical education will make an enormous difference in their exercise regiment.
At present, there is nothing available except asphalt around these units. I was shocked at the lack of equipment and hope that someone will help me out. Would you please help my deserving children out with a donation toward their fit future?
