I teach Elementary P.E. to students in SPED Pre-K and Kindergarten through 2nd graders in an outdoor class on the North Shore of Oahu, HI! I have 16 different classes that I teach where we encourage movement for all to grow, connect, and have fun in a supportive and safe space. We have seen the need for our students to connect more with each other because COVID-19 was both a social distancing and physical distancing period and movement was restricted. With our movement outdoors during P.E., I plan on using these team-building games to incorporate functional movements and state standards while having fun. The team-building games will encourage our students to interact with their peers and learn how to problem-solve while outdoors. I have also included items to assist with inclusion for our special needs students and our SPED Pre-K classes. My special needs students also need a safe space for them to exercise and move with their peers without feeling isolated or left out. These items will help my special needs students to be present in class while taking breaks. These items will help our students to find fun in engaging activities that will support their physical health; build connections with peers through physical and social interactions; have fun in a safe outdoor classroom.
