My Students

My students have been through a trying beginning of the school year. We started out with a class of 20 students, with many interesting personalities. We recently gained a new teacher so our numbers went down but I have all original students at some point during the day. Each child has their own special story. I teach in a high poverty school, but each child gives their all each day.

My classroom is a safe place full of love to come to and disappear in learning from 7:45-3:45 each day.

We are an extended day school to provide more opportunities for our students.

My Project

My students would love to start their day on a nice carpet with padded seats (morning meeting). We also will use the carpet for restorative class meetings, share time as well as literacy circles. The carpet will be featured at the front of the classroom.

The students are sweet and so appreciative.

They give their all each day. They happened to see another teacher's carpet when we joined together to buddy read and thought it was so nice. So I thought it was time to do something special for them. We are working with students who need to build their confidence and it might not seem like a big thing but a comfortable place to read helps as well as something to be proud of.
