Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are in school for almost seven hours a day during a regular day. So many of them are new to the country and speak minimal, if any, English. For the majority of that time, they are seated, working on an electronic device. I provide opportunities for them to stay after school for two hours a day. Sometimes, they stay because their parents work and are not home when they get home, but most stay because they love the comfortable environment I provide for them to acquire English! The students eat lunch early and to keep their energy up, they can enjoy healthy snacks in my after-school sessions.

The combination of healthy snacks and strategic games will nourish their bodies and their minds!

My students can learn English by using their active participation in strategic games in a competitive tournament style, in conjunction with the lessons I do. Learning vocabulary while using their bodies helps them to comprehend and remember the words in context for successful use both in and out of school!

I am also asking for stress balls and rewards for the winners of the strategic games because they need these items to stay safe and mentally healthy.
