Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students don't have the basic necessities to come to school or the means to purchase necessary supplies. Beginning the school year can be rough for deficient-performing students who do not want to be placed in an intensive reading course. Also, many of them come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of my students enter my classroom upset, embarrassed, and humiliated. I implement Growth Mindset activities continuously throughout the year to encourage my students to see the full potential they possess. The classroom environment contributes to this. The majority of the students are on free or reduced lunch. I love my students' desire to learn, but their lack of resources can stifle their ability to do their best.

To encourage the hard workers, the use of incentives through snacks will inspire them all to try hard and put in the extra effort to be rewarded for their perseverance.

These incentives, snacks, will put a smile on their face and encourage others to dig a little deeper despite what they may be experiencing. No matter how they learn, everyone deserves to be recognized for their hard work. This helps create a welcoming and safe place where my students can build themselves up to reach their goals and graduate high school by meeting state assessment requirements. My students have every ability to succeed, they just need the right tools to do so.
