Help me give my students tools to help them be successful in the classroom by using tape measures for fractions, candy for statistics and snacks during studying.
I am asking for a set of classroom tape measures with markings for fractions to help my students learn how to use a tape measure for real-life projects, while learning about simplifying and adding/subtracting fractions at the same time. Starbursts are used in a candy grab lab, where students explore the relationship between hand span and number of candies grabbed. M&Ms and Skittles are used for learning measures of center like mean, median and mode. Gummy candies are used for learning how to change fractions to decimals. The snack boxes are for students who need a brain break either in math or study skills, especially those who may not have had opportunity to eat during the day.
All of the items requested will benefit students who struggle in school, particularly those who are turned off by math.
My goal as a teacher is to find fun ways to engage my students and encourage lifelong learning. I love seeing my students get excited when they get to use candy or hands-on projects to learn a particular topic. It truly is rewarding to see students progress from dreading a class to (sometimes) looking forward to the same class by the end of the year. Thank you for supporting my students!
