Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year, I work at a career and technical high school located in the South Bronx. Many of the students are performing below grade level. I currently teach high school students who are reading 3+ years below grade level. I would like to motivate them by providing incentives for participation and attendance. I've learned that nothing motivates high school students more than snacks. Once students begin to participate, they will realize that they are able to do and learn amazing things once they put forth effort and dedication. A donation of snack will not only cause students to learn how to read but it can change the rest of their lives.
