Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are enthusiastic about learning, but come with limited resources and academic challenges. We are a Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) classroom, some of which are English learners and all qualify as Title I as we are in a large, urban, and low-income community.

Being back to in-person learning brings new hope, excitement, and something to celebrate.

It is essential to note that the pandemic and the prolonged school disruptions have had a profound impact on students learning of all skills and their ability to focus and remain motivated.

Finding ways to motivate them with added hands-on activities and art projects have been exhausting when no supplies are available.

Global supply chains and inequitable access to material/supplies have notably impacted my students' motivation during reading, math, and social studies.

Having art supplies/resources for projects during reading, math, and social studies will help keep my students focused, excited, and motivated to learn.

My Project

Having supplies and equipment available for extension projects in social studies and science lessons will help motivate and keep students engaged in their learning.

After being physically away from the classroom, students lack the focus on keeping engaged and motivated in their learning.

Having the supplies, materials, and copier will make learning fun, engaging and hands-on. These tools will help them express their creativity by extending social studies lessons to art projects such as in the California Missions, California Regions, Gold Rush, and Science.

Due to the pandemic and ongoing global shipping issues, we are lacking supplies and art materials to extend their learning to hands-on activities that make learning fun and engaging.

Also, having a scanner/color printer will allow them to upload their hard work on the classroom page/and or print to display in color.
