Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is is my very first teaching job and I am blessed to be in a class with energetic kindergarten scholars! We are an inner city school district and our classroom is a safe haven for my students. In our class with different abilities, socioeconomic and ethnic background, we all share the love of learning. My students always greet me in the morning with a smile and a hug and are always eager and ready to take on each day!

My Project

Many students have a difficult time sitting still. Research supports allowing students to sit in chairs that move or are comfortable, keep them on task. By adding wobble stools to my classroom I am able to give my wiggly students a chance to move while working and complete the task at hand. I would utilize these stools at my Guided Reading table where each student would have a turn sitting on the stools Currently all students are sitting on blue plastic chairs because that is all that is offered to them. I am picturing those wonderful smiles when they see these new stools at their teacher table for Guided Reading. One more reason to love reading!
