My Project

My students come from an impoverished area that is riddled with violence. This makes it difficult for them to focus on education with so much adversity. Most of them are placed in special education at a young age due to academic and behavioral challenges. Thus they feel demotivated at an early age and they struggle to build relationships. They are looking to make connections to improve their life circumstances. They want to learn but sometimes their negative thoughts and feelings get in their way. When they come for assistance it helps to incentivize them and playing games helps to teach them behavior regulation. I find food is a great way to make connections with them and they disclose more when they are not worried about being hungry.

My students are just trying to learn without being disrupted by emotional challenges.

Many of my students need help with emotional regulation and may have been baker acted. They need help to reset their emotions and to self-regulate. Please help me to help them grow emotionally and to become more resilient:
