Motivate Middle Schoolers to Read

Help me give my students to access to Newbery Award books, social studies and science books, graphic novels and books for leisure reading.

My Project

My school is located in a rural community with nearly 70% of students coming from economically disadvantaged homes. COVID-19 has interfered with student access to age appropriate books due to lack of internet and transportation.

As the middle school Library Media Specialist I am responsible for maintaining an extensive and relevant library collection.

As an educator, it makes my heart happy to see students excited about reading!

I am requesting new books that are age appropriate, pique the interest, and motivate middle schoolers to read. Reading is the foundation to learning in all disciplines. The most effective way I can help students grow as learners, and close the pandemic learning gap, is to fill the library with a diverse collection of books. Providing adequate reading materials will help our middle school students become productive young adults, impacting society for years to come!
