I teach French to 150 students in levels I, III, III(Honors), AP, and International Baccalaureat. My students are in grades 10-12. The students come from every walk of life, and AMAZING is the only word I use to describe them.

My students are aware of the obstacles that face them. In my class, they know that they have to become proficient in the target language. I have high expectations for my students. One of the ways they targeted to improve their speaking skills was to use video technology.

It's one thing to learn a new language and master vocabulary, reading and writing. The stump lies in speaking. How does one encourage a student to speak in a foreign language? The students suggested Project Based Learning activities using a variety of mediums including cameras. These would be used by small groups to create and present activities/projects in French. They would also be able to create communicative vignettes which they could then use to reach out to other learners of the target language and create global bridges.

I want my AP students to sit the AP exam and score respectably well. I want my IB students to be prepared for the arduous task they will face when sitting their exams. I want all of my students to benefit from new technologies and have the resources to learn and improve on their skills. I want my students to be productive global citizens. I teach my students to appreciate everything; receiving something for the class that is not expected would surpass their expectations and prompt their need for giving appreciation. My students like to give back!
