My Students

I teach fifth grade students this school year, as a first-year teacher. Fifth graders come to school and want to be challenged. This age allows for a large amount of hands-on engagement and student interest led activities. I strive to provide my students with as many resources in all areas of their learning. I want my students to feel as if they were given the opportunity to learn effectively and develop new interests and skills. My students are creative and love hands-on activities. They really thrive when given a task and asked to develop something or solve a problem. They work best when they are able to work together, practicing their teamwork skills.

My Project

These materials will provide students with a chance to start their school day in a calm but educational way. When students are allowed to come in and work in a structured but relaxed way, it allows them to release any of the stresses that may have happened the night before or that morning before school. This will allow them to start their learning routines with a clear mind. This time also allows for social time which builds the students up emotionally. They will be able to come in and play an educational game like the Allowance game with a group of peers or they can become engineers and build using the Magna Tiles or LEGO bricks. Having things like Zoob sets and STEM building bricks challenge the students to think creatively and work together. The students love STEM challenges and our current morning game time routine, however these activities will take our morning tubs routine to the next level.
