Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a class of 20 fun and ready to learn kindergarten students. Everyday they are eager to come to school and learn from their teacher. My class ranges in level and learning styles, many of my students are hands on learners and are very active. I have tried to steer away from the standard classroom and allow them to learn through experiences and play as well as foster their creativity. I have created a classroom with flexible seats and project based learning.

My Project

Each morning my students come in and they take out their morning work journal to begin their day. I would like to create morning tubs where the students will be able to learn through play and foster their creativity. The students will be using these bins for 30 minutes every morning to replace morning work worksheets. The students will be able to come in each morning choose the morning tub they wish and work on the activity. Such as creating structures with waffle builders, playing war or dominoes using the dominoes pieces, build words using the snap together letter blocks and creating pictures using the wooden pattern block and pattern block picture cards. This will also help the students to develop creativity and socialization skills. Students will need to learn to work together and will allow them to be more active in the morning instead of sitting in their seats to complete a worksheet.
