Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing human beings! They are full of life and have endless potential to do so many wonderful things. My school is a Title I school in a poverty-stricken​ community.

Our school consists of a very large English language learner population.

All of our students receive free breakfast and free lunch. Many of our parents struggle to help meet the needs of school supplies and the needs of their children. Regardless of these circumstances, my students overcome! They are learning how to face challenges and grow stronger academically, socially, and emotionally, preparing them for the next level of life.

I believe that these students deserve every opportunity this world has to offer and I am determined to help them get it.

These students can change the world with their brilliant minds and can climb out of the cycle of poverty through the gift of education. They will learn that the world is theirs for the taking with hard work, dedication, and knowledge.

My Project

Two years ago I used morning choice in my classroom and it made a HUGE difference. I finally had students who were frequently tardy or absent anxiously waiting by my door to get into our classroom. It's all thanks to morning choice. Now that we'll be loosening up during the pandemic, I'm breaking it back.

Providing morning choice games and activities get kids excited about coming to school and significantly reduce tardiness and absences and BUILD RELATIONSHIPS!

Through these games the students requested, they and I (I play, too) will be able to rebuild relationships early in the morning with their classmates and myself. In our classroom, relationships always come first!
