My Students

As a teacher, I love getting to put the spotlight on all my students' great work. I especially enjoy teaching writing. The students come up with the most creative and expressive work in each genre. The printer/copier has been instrumental in showcasing student work daily.

Our class has 32 first grade students.

They are great readers, writers, mathematicians, community members, critical thinkers, but above all, hard workers! We have 12 students with special needs outlined in their Individual Education Plans, and 20 general education students. We have students who speak multiple languages and some who are just learning English.

My Project

As I walk around the room checking on students or holding individual conferences with students, I often see great examples of work that I want to hold on to. The copier has made this possible! When a student writes a really great beginning to their story, or clearly explains their mathematical thinking in pictures, numbers, and words, I can make a copy of that page instantly to use as student data, share with the class, or add to a student's portfolio! This is why we are requesting 5 toner cartridges. The copier has been essential to the daily inner workings of our classroom. As we need printed materials, we can create them without having to wait a day for the school's copier. If an urgent announcement needs to go home, we can get it accomplished in a few minutes. As a special educator, a big part of my work is writing IEPs for my special education students. This involves a lot of home notices, drafted documents, and final copies to be printed. I couldn't do this without the printer!

Your donation will make a big difference in our classroom each day.

It will allow us to help our students by being able to provide them with instant paper resources. It will also allow us to maintain our records, keep track of student data, and compile samples of work to share with both parents and administration. I find the ability to print especially important as a special educator who maintains 12 IEPs and other related documents. Thank you for your support!
