Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are a Multicultural Rainbow! Skin Color Art Supplies. Please consider giving the gift of multicultural art supplies that represent my students' varied racial and multicultural backgrounds. My students often struggle to find the color that best matches their skin tone. I often see the disappointment on their faces when they open a crayon box and see the limited colors to choose from. This gift will help them build confidence. They will use these multicultural art supplies to create true representations of themselves and the people they share their lives with. These art supplies will inspire my students in their writing and drawings.

Skin Color Art Supplies will explore the topic of skin tone and color and other racial features while promoting inclusiveness and tolerance.

These supplies will share a message of inclusiveness, and empowerment while inspiring children to write and draw. These art supplies of crayons, markers, pencils, and sketchbooks will enable students to grow bigger ideas and interpretations in the way they see, share, and participate in our world.

This project will enable students to effectively reflect on their identities and the world they see in the pictures they create for their narrative and informational writing. This reflection of self will also be seen as they create written or drawn responses for the stories they are reading.

I strive to include as much varied racial, social, and cultural representation as possible, in my classroom. This project will enable me to continue this necessary work while focusing on my students and who they are.
