My Project

My 2nd graders are curious, creative, and eager to learn about the world around them. This year, one of my classroom parents is a scientist who suggested some simple and engaging activities with microscopes, using them to look at ordinary objects such as fabric, sand, and feathers. How wonderful it would be to view this things from an utterly different perspective!

Adding digital microscopes to our classroom will allow my students to engage in hands-on science that not only satisfies their curiosity but also builds foundational skills for future scientific inquiry.

We are requesting affordable, digital, and wireless microscopes that will allow my students to magnify everyday objects and share and discuss their discoveries with their peers. They will jot down their scientific observations and data in science journals, thus practicing their writing skills as well. With the power of a digital display, students will be able to observe textures, colors, and patterns that are normally invisible to the naked eye. This hands-on approach will help foster collaboration and develop critical thinking skills. Plus, having technology like this in the classroom supports my goal of making science accessible, relevant, and exciting.
