My Students

Smiling children playing dress up, doing puzzles, and creating masterpieces with paint and brushes. This is what you see when you walk in my pre-k class. These children are not just playing. They are learning math and reading concepts, developing their muscles, and learning to get along.

I teach three and four-year-olds in a high-need area of Brooklyn.

These children, the youngest students in the public school where I teach, enter my classroom with a curiosity, playfulness, and excitement about learning that encourage and inspire me daily.

My Project

I am requesting a water table for my classroom. Children can learn so much while playing at a water table. They learn which objects sink and which float. They act as little scientists, make hypotheses and checking them. They learn about volume as they test which cup holds more water. They learn to take turns and get along with their classmates, all while doing hands-on activities that they enjoy. They also develop the muscles in their hands by working with tools such as an eye dropper and funnels. The amount of learning that takes place at the water table is tremendous. It's not just splashing around!

A brand new water table will help my students learn math and science concepts, as well as practice social skills, and develop their growing muscles, all while having fun!
