A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I teach in an offsite, public pre-k classroom that is paired with a daycare/Children's Day Out program. We share thirty-nine students among three programs. The combination provides a strong sense of community where teachers know all of the children and families. We see most parents several times a week for drop-off and pick-up. Many of the children have been in classes together since infancy creating many interesting, sibling-like relationships. They both support and challenge each other every day.
Curious, enthusiastic, and creative; my students are eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge.
They are fearless when it comes to technology and, as children of the 21st century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of tools to engage their world.
My Project
Our district recently passed a bond issue which supported the purchase of a set of four iPads for every early childhood classroom. We are currently utilizing the iPads in our literacy and learning centers. To optimize learning in all curricular areas, there needs to be a hands-on, manipulative component. Osmo provides these beneficial tools.
We need these requested Osmo iPad Base and Genius Kit to create equity and provide access for all children to participate and learn through first-hand, interactive experiences. The students will be able to learn creativity, math and literacy concepts through the use of these tools.
Your donation will allow children access to unique learning experiences that promote student engagement and increase cognitive development. I have seen this in a previous class when I was able to borrow an Osmo Kit and base so that each of my students was able to briefly explore these materials. I heard cries of "Look!" each time a new child got on an iPad. They were hooked.
The Osmo Kit provides stimulating activities in the core learning areas of literacy and math. Furthermore, it creates opportunities for the students to learn both independently and to practice teaching one another.
