My Project

As part of the second grade literacy curriculum, there are mentor texts for students to use to develop reading and writing skills in four different modules. Each student will need a copy of the mentor text to read independently or read with a partner to work on fluency, accuracy, and comprehension skills. Students also use the mentor texts to identify and gather evidence to write topic statements with supporting evidence. Students reread the text over multiple days and then write journal responses to show their thinking. Students will also study vocabulary words and hold discussion groups with their peers about the text.

Your donations to this project will ensure my students will have mentor books to help them become lifelong readers and writers.

The mentor texts include both fiction and nonfiction books. We need more copies of the mentor texts for our second grade class.

Due to budget cuts in school funding, it has been challenging to have quality books in our second grade classroom. Thank you so much for your support as we maneuver through these difficult times.
