My Students

My students are entering middle school for the first time and are nervous and eager. On top of the new experience they are individuals on the Autism Spectrum and need extra attention assimilating to a new place. They come to school ready to learn and enjoy every minute of it!

My students are extraordinary.

They amaze me everyday and go beyond their "limitations." I enjoy seeing them learn, make friends and become part of the middle school community. We appreciate any help!

My Project

By utilizing the headphones in our classroom students can work independently on literacy and phonics programs. They can also research and watch educational videos about topics in class. When giving recreation time, students can take a break and enjoy their favorite programs and online educational games.

The storage cart will be used to hold our school supplies, which teaches them independence and organization.

The drawers are labeled with each supply they hold, and students need to maintain neatness and use organizational skills to access their school supplies. This is important in a special education class where we emphasis independence and decision making.

Mrs. Altmeier Mya Middle Years Alternative School Grades 6-8
