My Project

Our raft hydroponic systems are coming along, and we need a couple more supplies to start growing our leafy greens. We will be experimenting to see if the Pro-mix soil does better than the big box store brand soil in having healthier leafy greens in our hydroponic systems. We also need some heavy duty plugs for our water pumps. The hydroponic system should be easy for the students to maintain and grow lots of food for everyone.

Growing food should be at the top of everyone's "to-learn" list in life.

If anything should happen where we cannot get food brought in to our islands, knowing how to grow anything that can be eaten will come in handy. I am hoping my students learn all they can about growing food, preparing food for themselves and others and being as self-sufficient as possible in case they need those skills as they grow into young adults.

These supplies will surely be put to good use and we can't wait to start growing and eating everything we can from the garden. I am hoping even the students that don't like vegetables will learn to like them and eat them because they are delicious!
