Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in an impoverished area of South Los Angeles. All of my students come from low-income families. We are a Title I school where one hundred percent of our students receive free meals. My students always try their best at everything and anything despite the challenges that they face in their daily lives.

They are already not expected to have it as easy as others, but we learn that with hard work and consistency, they can be "unique" or different from the rest.

My students are so eager to learn that it makes coming to work easy!

My Project

My students have been given the opportunity to use Chromebooks provided by our school but we do not have enough headphones to use with the Chromebooks. My students and I received 20 headphones from a donor a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, 20 headphones are still not enough for my whole class. I have 33 students and the days when we have the Chromebook cart it is hard for us to share the limited amount of headphones we have. We also have 5 classroom computers and it would be nice if we have headphones for those too.

We use the Chromebooks to build their literacy, typing and mathematics skills; headphones will improve the quality of learning on the computer by allowing the students to concentrate harder.

I know that their skills would improve if they could only hear their computer and focus on their activities.

I want headphones for our Chromebook cart and our classroom computers to help my students focus when working on educational websites.

By acquiring these headphones my students will be able to focus more when practicing their skills online as well as gain more knowledge from the websites. If the students can hear only their computer they will be able to focus more and do well on the activities provided by the websites. Focus is very important when working on increasing your knowledge.
