This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are deep thinkers that apply themselves in every lesson. They give their best in every assignment, and truly produce quality work. They are engaged in each lesson, and enjoy coming to school every day. They are charismatic, and love cultural experiences such as music and art. This group of open-minded students display such a beautiful harmony in working together. I am truly blessed to have such an amazing group of students. They deserve everything that I am hoping to supply them with.

My Project

This novel, "Walk Two Moons," will help provide my students with a tool to develop empathy. At this age, students struggle with empathy; it is best to expose them to it through literature and sharing experiences. I plan on reading this novel as a unit of study.

My students will be able to reflect, journal, and create digital and paper projects to display our learning.

We will have classroom discussions about the situations that occur in the plot.

My students have gone through personal hardships, and this novel can also help them understand the bigger picture of life. This novel will help my students bond, build compassion, and become mindful individuals.
