Monthly Author Visits to Boost Readership!

Help me give my students virtual author visits! Author visits are a great way to boost readership and our middle grade readers would LOVE this interactive experience each month!

My Project

Each month of the school year, Afoma of the acclaimed website, Reading Middle Grades, will organize and moderate an author visit with a popular middle grades author! This is such a huge deal because author visits are LIFE-CHANGING and setting up them up takes an immense amount of time that I , as a busy K-12 school library media specialist, just don't have the time to do! Afoma is a voracious middle grade reader and reviewer and my students LOVE her lists and recommendations. Partnering with Afoma to bring middle grade author visits to my readers will be such a gift for them!

Author visits give students a chance to see behind the scenes of books -- to see where ideas come from, what research goes into telling stories, the perseverance and grit that is required to try and try again when writing and creating.

Author visits inspire students to take creative risks and try new books and genres.

My students will get to meet and interact with authors that they know and love and those that they will soon know and love! The middle grade students in my school will get to ask questions directly to the authors and I, their librarian, will receive discussion guides for each of the authors' newest books! These monthly author visits are sure to boost my students' love of reading.
