I currently teach K-12 art, that's right...every single one of them!
I love my job and what I do and more importantly who I get to see daily!! I am doing this project to enhance what the school already supplies us with and continue to grow my program!
Recently at State art teacher seminar, I fell in LOVE with Gelli printing. As with any teacher I am constantly learning and growing and expanding my knowledge and love of the arts for my students. I want to continue to bring the students new and exciting forms of art that may lead them to a fulfilling passion that always involves the visual arts.
We work with a little bit of everything in here so there is never a dull moment in this exciting classroom. My students are what keep me going and growing.
I have the tiniest hands working at tables, to the graduating seniors looking to go and grow! My room sees up to 6 different classes a day and with that comes many needs and even more ideas! With limited space and resources Gelli plates is a great introduction to printmaking.
My Project
With the resources from this project, my students will be introduced to the printmaking process through gelli plate printing and the use of acrylic paints.
My young artists want to ExPloRe the world of printmaking using Gelli plates and acrylic paints!
My art students will develop skills using the prints, stamps, and do a series of printing on one piece of paper to create art.
Many times they will also use these artworks to create other dynamic pieces. For example, they could rip them up and make landscapes, or portraits, sew into them, draw over them or use them in a multitude of ways!
