My Project

Today’s world many of our children are not exposed to the daily use of money, outside the form of a debit card or app. Our goal as fifth grade teachers is to inform students of the importance of financial literacy.

Our plan is to teach decimals using money and problem solving scenarios that will give students a world connection to the use of money.

In addition, we will be setting up class teams. Each team will be assigned a task to create a business idea maximizing their budget. After each meeting, students will gather in the rug area to decide how they will proceed with their ideas.

Financial literacy is a concept that needs to be taught, learned, and used. Our plan is to put that in action with the magnetic money and area rug.
