Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our science lab is a place of challenge and discovery. Students will spend this year learning the foundation of knowledge and skills they will need as they pursue their education.

The students that I have a privilege of teaching range from kindergarten to fifth grade in an urban, inner-city elementary school.

They are excited to explore the world of science, to perform experiments, and to expand their capacity for critical thinking. They take pride in their efforts and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning.

Our student population is 99% minority and over 97% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. With that being said, I believe that they deserve the BEST education and every opportunity to be successful in fulfilling their dreams.

My Project

With your help, I will be able to set up lemonade/grocery store stands with cash registers, and sign stand in one of our pods that will help promote financial literacy. We will use products from recycled materials such as cereal boxes, Pringles chip cans, shampoo bottles, etc. for our store. The students will have an opportunity to make grocery lists and make purchases. The students will be responsible for counting and distributing play money to make their purchases.

Our ultimate goal is to allow our students to make decisions and be financially independent.

The activities will aid our students in enhancing their financial literacy skills while being actively engaged. Thank you in advance for helping us make this project come to life.
