Help Ms. Robles

This class is a GED Adult Education class in a high poverty area. All of the students come from families that live in poverty. They dropped out of high school at a young age and never received money management skills at home or at school.

In our Adult Education class, all students are high school dropouts, now working towards obtaining their GED. Because they left high school prematurely, they missed a lot of the basics, like money management. Now that they are trying to get their lives back on track, this would be an invaluable lesson to help them manage money as they continue into their adulthood with a greater degree of maturity. We are a family literacy center, so all of our students are parents. Better money management could help the whole family to move out of poverty in the future.

This money management book will be a great resource and tool for our Adult Education class as we seek to understand budgeting and living within our means. This will mean even more down the road, as our students achieve their GEDs and possibly move on to higher education and higher paying jobs. With good money management skills, these families could potentially move out of the cycle of poverty.

Knowledge is power. Knowledge of money management for families that have been stuck in a vicious cycle of poverty could make the difference. This family could potentially move out of poverty. Please help to empower our Adult Education students to take the reins of the financial future of their families.
