Modular Seating for Maximizing Collaboration

My Project

This project is the second in a series of projects aimed at reinventing the functional seating in our high school library. I began working in this library in the 2022 school year. At the time, it had multiple four-person and six-person tables as well as two oversized chairs and a coffee table. Last year, generous donations allowed me to add two cafe tables and stools to begin the process of providing flexible seating. Students and teachers alike enjoy the opportunity to sit at different seats in different areas of the library.

Looking forward to the coming school year, my goal is to provide seating for groups of students and teachers to gather and work collaboratively.

Whether students are reading and discussing a novel together, working on concurrent classes in the library, or taking a brain break, modular sofas allow them to do so in a comfortable environment. As a Professional Learning Community, teachers are meeting in small groups on a more consistent basis. Modular seating allows them to get out of the classroom and work together in a different environment.

These sofas are sturdy, easy to clean, and also provide charging options for multiple devices. As we all know, cell phones, laptops, earbuds, and other devices need to be charged throughout the day. This added bonus of built-in charging stations makes these sofas even more attractive to add our space.
