I teach 9th grade Global History and 10th grade AP World History to 34 remarkable students in each class. They’re passionate about exploring the world, connecting history to current events, and engaging in thoughtful debates. However, my outdated Chromebook is slowing down our progress and limiting the dynamic, multimedia-rich lessons they want to receive.
With a new MacBook, students can experience lessons that truly bring history to life.
My goal is to provide them with interactive learning experiences using videos, simulations, and creative presentations, which will help my students better visualize complex historical events and understand connections between different time periods. For example, they'll be able to see virtual tours of ancient sites or seamlessly switch between maps, slides, and media to keep discussions flowing.
The MacBook will also enable them to experience more collaborative, student-led projects. Many of my students are talented artists and creators who thrive on using different media to express their ideas. With faster technology, we can engage in multimedia projects like digital timelines and podcasts, fostering creativity and critical thinking.
Additionally, grading will be more efficient, allowing them to receive quicker, meaningful feedback, which is essential for student growth. My students are curious, engaged, and eager to learn, and they deserve a learning environment where technology enhances their understanding of history and helps them build 21st-century skills.
This project will make a difference by transforming our classroom into a hub of exploration and discovery, empowering my students to dive deeper into the past and connect it to the present.
