Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 4th graders are creative, enthusiastic learners, and they love to think outside of the box! Instead of wrapping up our geography unit with a test, for example, we created 3D maps of our beloved state, painted, labeled, and added unique and personal touches that illustrated all we'd learned about maps, land forms, and Texas regions. We concluded our poetry unit by hosting a "poetry cafe," complete with "coffee" (hot cocoa) and rich literature read out loud by our student writers.

My Project

Our school year begins in two weeks! While prepping for virtual instruction, it's become clear that having a tablet/laptop hybrid for instruction would be the most ideal solution to tackling online teaching. Enter, Microsoft's Surface Pro.

The touchscreen allows for the most intuitive modeling of strategies for students - I'd be able to use the stylus pen to revise sentences, draw the route European Explorers took to North America, and sketch a graphic organizer on a document on the fly!

The Surface Pro converts to a laptop with keyboard also, which is better for creating assignments and submitting grades. The flexibility of this device would allow me to move from task to task seamlessly.
