My Students

As a school that focuses on building a sustainable city and community, MELS is always looking to conserve paper. In my gymnasium, it is important for me to always have the learning targets for the lesson posted so that all of my students can see them on a reusable surface instead of wasting paper.

MELS is an expeditionary learning school which follows a unique learning curriculum that focuses on interdisciplinary teaching and fieldwork, where the students are immersed in the content to gain a hands-on learning experience.

Students at MELS are innovative, insightful, and have a strong desire to learn. Through their experiential learning, students gain in depth knowledge about many topics and become experts with the material. Physical education plays a unique role at MELS because the subject is always making connections to math, science, and social studies.

My Project

With the use of this white-board, I will be able to have a mobile classroom in my gymnasium. As a PE teacher, I often times have to share space with other teachers, so it would be important for me and my students to be able to bring supplies and information to other parts of the learning space in a smoother way. In addition, this board will be used to post learning targets, brainstorm ideas, make connections to other subjects, hold important supplies such as pencils and our CD player, as well as post homework or other assignments. This mobile cart will increase the organization in my class as well as help keep my students on track for success!

Physical education is a crucial part of a child's overall academic plan.
