My Students

We have a wonderful group of Kindergartners at our school! The kids are awesome! They work so hard to get a good head start to school in the early years. They come from very diverse backgrounds as well which is something that makes our school special. At our school rigor is emphasized, even in the early years so these supplies will help us make the environment rich and warm for children and show them what an adventure learning can be each day they come to school.

My Project

I have found that my kindergartners absolutely LOVE Mo Willems. They learn to love to read from his books and his pictures, writing, and humor! It is always fun to read books that make kids laugh, and most importantly, I notice that they will then pick up these books over and over again because they find that they too can READ them. It gives them such power and such a sense of accomplishment! One of my favorite things to see is when a child grabs the book and then also the reading buddy (stuffed animal) that goes with the book. It ignites a love of reading which is what starts a kindergartner off right.
